South Korea Sneak Peek 2: Archi stuffs Busan

31 01 2012

Second part~~~! I almost got carried away by sharing ALL architect-related pictures. Yeah… that wouldn’t be called “sneak peek” anymore…

We weren’t really able to explore Busan much. We only stayed there for 2 days and technically 1 night. The first night was not included because it was already around 10pm when we arrived at our hotel. Then we hurriedly went to korail to catch our train for Seoul. Must come back here! haha.

Yongdusan Park

Clockwise: Yongdusan Tower (route near Busan Hotel) | the stilt structure which is the washroom | tree lined sidewalk/road

The stairway is actually a long climb up. It was fun to look down from the top step. :D It feels as if I’m so high up!

Gukje

The image on the left is another route to Yongdusan Park, but from Gukje Market. I think there were 3 to 4 sets of escalators. Escalatorception. =))

Lotte Mall Gwangbok

VRF units | midpoint of the lotte aqua mall and the main building | observation deck

I love this accent bench on the observation deck! I thought it looked perfect for the setting. Busan is a port city. The curved benches must have depicted the waves; and the trapezoidal sculpture the ships. I also like the 2-tone flooring. The VRF units remind me of Terran’s supply depots in StarCraft. How fitting….

Info: the hotel is under construction schedule to be done by 2014. It will soon be one of the tallest skyscrapers in the world at approximately 510m. Still a long way from the current Burj Khalifa’s 829.84m, but still tall.o_o

Haedong Yonggungsa Temple

At the lower right picture: the path had sculptures of the 12 Chinese zodiacs.

Haeundae

top left to bottom: Subway (off to Haeundae) | BMW | random structure | Haeundae Beach

The subway design in Busan is very much different than in Seoul. Busan has a more brutalistic feel.

Haeundae Beach!! “We got married” fans (Korean variety show), CN Blue, and SNSD fans might be familiar with this place. It was where Yonghwa and Seohyun fed the seagulls, and then were ‘attacked’ by them. How I knew: Achi was gushing about the place. ^^;

BMW had a poster advertising their mini. The slogan was made of win: Park wherever you damn well please.

I guess this is how thick our roads are…or even more. O_o
