Christmas gifts 2011

2 01 2012

One of the few things I love about Christmas is wrapping gifts! It must be because I love pretty packages. I thought it adds excitement and satisfaction to the receiver. I reused ribbons and scrap colored papers. The only thing I bought, besides from the goodies, was the silver-gray wrap paper with black and white circle prints.

We had a family trip last November to Korea. Souvenirs were quite expensive, and the only things I know most of the people really appreciated were anything edible. Hence, the Souvenir+Christmas goody bags: Binch, and hard candies. Oh yeah, killed two bird with one stone! I also added the local chocolate flat tops. :)

goodies!

What is bright summer colors. Lol Yes, it is Christmas, but I reckoned it would add amusement for the receivers. Besides, the colors of the goodies were not bright. It needed to pop! So… contrast I did. I had the colored papers since 5 years ago. I thought that it was the perfect time to use them. ^^;

some hellos

6 12 2011

Hi to two of my block mates: ‘fables’ and ‘smiles!’ They are the only 2 college friends whom I know have a wordpress ^^;

After weeks of pondering, Fables has finally created an account for his writing. He was the one who told me Smiles’s also here. Their writing skills are so good that it makes me feel bad for writing so informally. (p_q) They also have a theme! Smiles writes about her experiences and observations of Metro Manila. As for Fables, he has only one post for now. … Unlike me who posts+writes just about anything. … Oh..okay.. but, random is fun though, no? :)

Look forward to them in the future!

A reflection: Why Architecture?

14 10 2011

After watching Ted Mosby in the recent episode of How I Met Your Mother, wherein he wanted to inspire his students to become future architects like his professors did to him, it made me wonder how I came to this profession. Was there a professor who overzealously inspired me/us to become an architect like him? There were a few professors that I like… but more of because I like their style of teaching. It made me so interested in those subjects. But, no one really said, “You will/should become an architect.” They just said,If/when some of you become future architects……” ^^; lol There was even one who said, “If you want to study an easy course, you can might as well shift to the other building.” Well, weren’t they inspirational?

Conversation Pieces

20 09 2011

Architects In Restaurants

This so true! I can’t remember when my blockmates and I started having these kinds of conversations. I think the first time I noticed was when we were eating breakfast in a fastfood restau (third year college?). We talked about the interior of the restau then the entire structure; then discussing about the neighboring buildings of the mentioned restau.

When Joker and I were hunting for jobs together this passed summer, our conversations were 80% archi-related (20% everything else- people we know, people we don’t know, documentaries, sitcoms, magic, etc.). I remember we were talking about this documentary [Ancient Aliens] which was cut-short by this proposed building of Apple designed by Sir Norman Foster and assoc. We never got back to the first subject again. =))

When we don’t understand why a certain piece was placed at a certain place that didn’t seem necessary, we conclude them as ‘conversation piece.’ Something for the people, not necessarily archi-related only peeps, but also to everyone; to talk about. ^^; I guess it can be good for first dates. <_< to quench that awkward silence? =))

Announcer lately messaged in our group that we haven't talked to each other since forever, then posted an article about a building in Hong Kong in hopes of talking to each other again. lol

Anything architecture-related has become a staple subject. Just so those who can't relate know, we don't talk only talk about this btw. ;)
