Conversation Pieces

Architects In Restaurants

This so true! I can’t remember when my blockmates and I started having these kinds of conversations. I think the first time I noticed was when we were eating breakfast in a fastfood restau (third year college?). We talked about the interior of the restau then the entire structure; then discussing about the neighboring buildings of the mentioned restau.

When Joker and I were hunting for jobs together this passed summer, our conversations were 80% archi-related (20% everything else- people we know, people we don’t know, documentaries, sitcoms, magic, etc.). I remember we were talking about this documentary [Ancient Aliens] which was cut-short by this proposed building of Apple designed by Sir Norman Foster and assoc. We never got back to the first subject again. =))

When we don’t understand why a certain piece was placed at a certain place that didn’t seem necessary, we conclude them as ‘conversation piece.’ Something for the people, not necessarily archi-related only peeps, but also to everyone; to talk about. ^^; I guess it can be good for first dates. <_< to quench that awkward silence? =))

Announcer lately messaged in our group that we haven't talked to each other since forever, then posted an article about a building in Hong Kong in hopes of talking to each other again. lol

Anything architecture-related has become a staple subject. Just so those who can't relate know, we don't talk only talk about this btw. ;)

Gratitude

16 02 2011

I was not able to write an acknowledgment page in my book. hehe
first my parents who have been so supportive and understanding♥♥

my siblings who have helped me in every way they could (not like they had a choice :p i was practically begging hehe)♥♥

my consultants (tech-guy, professor, and polar bear)
: i would’ve died/be in trouble without you guys ♥♥♥ you guys have saved my life in numerous ways than one. my parents are planning on inviting you guys to dinner ^^;

to my friend renderer (tech-guy). i really do want to give you something in return. i asked but i think you’re just… too nice. o_o it’s hard for me to look for a long term girlfriend for you boy..haha -__-;;

to FK. for always being there to keep me going forward!!!
to my special group of guy friends ♥ sorry for the whining sometimes hehe you guys are great!!!! :D
to FK + special guy friends: for the support and always trying to keep me happy whether consciously or unconsciously.

to my not-really-little-but-great-helpers (fables, headturner, chocolate): thank you for the last minute help!!!!! for the layout, cover page, last minute ideas and script, almost last minute referrals, etc(i’m sorry na nagkalat ako during defense ^^;; windang much)

to dearest adviser! you had scared the heck out of me during final endorsement. @_@ but thank you so much!!! i thought you told me you gave me a 75 as an adviser grade… but you gave me a 20% out of 25%… that doesn’t equate to a 75… hehe ♥♥♥

to Mr. John Tewell for the photos :D
to IA librarian and the person who told me a few stories about his restoration job inside intramuros and outside. o_o i wasn’t able to get their names…
to National Archive– records division person… for the information about the Intendencia! i wasn’t able to get her name either…sad… o_o

last but not the least. to God. i’m not a religious person (I don’t follow Catholicism or what not.. but I do believe that there is a god somewhere :p )… but i would like to thank Him for the many blessings He have given me. He gave me a chance to meet the wonderful people i have mentioned above :) and the tiny miracles He had bestowed upon us :D Thank You so much!!

PS. i think i had a better vision when i started this thesis =)) and i lost it along the way… based on my previous sketches and little notes hehe

Reset

20 12 2010

when announcer played this song on her laptop on our passed Christmas party; I immediately had taken a liking to this song. The lyrics is well written and also has a story to tell. The music sounded very pop-ish, but it fit the lyrics (imo). did my research tonight, and much to my surprise, Charice Pempengco actually sang this song.

compared to “Pyramid”, which was kinda “just ok” for me, “Reset” actually is way better imo.

Two thumbs up to the rap. It sounded so nice compared to other songs with taglish lyrics. :) whoever wrote this is a genius!

Rap
Hey hey! Pakinggan mo naman ako (please listen to me)
Hey hey! I think this is the way na dapat gawin (the way it should be done)
Reset! Sana naman ika’y sang-ayon din (I hope you will also agree)
To all the things that I’m gonna say
I wish ika’y pumayag din (wish you will also consent)
Mag-aagree ka ba? (will you agree?)
If I tell you that -
Magsimula tayo para tayo’y sobrang happy na (Let’s start over again, so we can really be happy)
We should reset all this
Ibalik ang nakaraan (Let’s go back to the past)
