The minute you settle for less than you deserve, you get even less than you settled for.

Just in this city, in one day, one moment you could see someone and never see them in your life.

“The sound of the ocean captured in a shell. Like a memory. Imagine if it held something different, something more than just the sound but just as real. What if we had a chance to remember things that we never actually experienced?

“If you could look through a window that softened the edge between reality and fiction, what would you want to see? What would you want to remember?

- Shell [Wong Fu Productions]

Have fun. If you’re not enjoying what you are doing, why are you working so hard, sacrificing so much and hurting yourself to attain success in it? You have to first have the passion for what you want to achieve.

It’s all right”

Anger Management

27 10 2011

‎”I can’t count the number of emails I wish I had not sent. I can’t remember the times when my in my anger I have uttered words that may have hurt others causing casualties to people who are nearest us in work or family.”

Wise words to remember.
Anger is only one letter away from danger. Never do email, letter or memo when you are angry. Wait 24 hours. When mad, I’ve learned that the wise thing to do is NOTHING. Wait it out.

Francis Kong

Let the pandas soothe you :D

Back in high school, I have the shortest temper in MAJE. This often caused disagreements amongst us. I’m thankful for them who stood by me whenever my temper blew. They would cheer me up, then lecture me. XD nice bunch of friends. I’ve learned to control my anger during those times. Good thing is, I haven’t sent anyone an angry letter, yet. o_o; At least I think I haven’t… Nowadays, my temper only rises easily during uhm..those days. haha. I would ignore that person for a while until anger recedes which lasts only a few minutes. ^^;

Another thing that helped me restrain my anger from lashing out was keeping a journal. Whenever I felt like ‘torturing’ someone, I’d just write down what happened. It (sort of) released my anger. I’d feel so much better afterwards. I do write happy events/thoughts, too. :D Oh! Music and books are also effective! ^^

A light at the end of the Tunnel

4 10 2010

When everything else seemed lost, there will always be something positive in there. LOL…

I have almost given up on my thesis. (I blame the time: 4.05am)

But, I told myself to not give up just yet. I might feel tired/bored doing the floor plans right now, but I still must do it (for I have a consultation later. not sure what time though…8am? o_o;)

Then I just remembered this blog entry of Nakagauchi Masataka. It was from a long time ago (2008). I remember that entry had encouraged me…

After almost 2 years, it still does :)

Below is the translated version. Can be found here

      • “Especially when things are tough, is it important to enjoy ourselves!
Like, how can I enjoy work the most without overexerting myself?
Properly doing what we have to do, and finding a little happiness (enjoyment) in it!! I believe that these little pieces of happiness will become one big happiness one day!!
For example… You might feel like the thing you are doing now isn’t what you want or supposed to be doing. But since it’s something you have to do, you still have to do it!! Even so, let’s not do it unwillingly, rather look for a part of it that can be useful for what you really want to do, or things that give you something positive! You can surely discover a little happiness (enjoyment) like that!! And then make an effort in order to turn that little happiness (enjoyment) into a big one!!
And like that, when you are finally able to do what you always wanted, the biggest, most supreme happiness will surely be waiting for you!!
I think that things change because people have a goal, have a purpose!! No one can see the future or what lies ahead, but I think it’s all right to live life by doing everything we can without regrets!”

Thought Provoking

Taken from Paulo Coelho’s Like a Flowing River

These are some entries or essays that i like :) I may post some other entries.. :)

The Funny thing about human beings

a man asked my friend Jamie Cohen: ‘what is the human being’s funniest characteristic?’
Cohen said: ‘our contradictoriness. we are in such a hurry to grow up, and then we long for our lost childhood. we make ourselves ill earning money, and then spend all our money on getting well again. We think so much about the future that we neglect the present, and thus experience neither the present nor the future. We live as if we were never going to die, and die as if we had never lived.’

the Australian and the newspaper ad

I’m in Sydney harbour, looking at the beautiful bridge that joins the two halves of the city, when an Australian comes up to me and asks me to read an advertisement in the newspaper.

‘The print is too small,’ he says. ‘I can’t make out what it says.’

I try, but I haven’t got my reading glasses with me. I apologized to the man.

‘Oh that’s all right,’ he says. ‘Do you know something? I think that God suffers from poor eyesight too, not because He’s old, but because that’s how He wants it to be. That way, when someone does something wrong, He can always say He couldn’t quite see, and so ends up forgiving the person because He doesn’t want to commit injustice.’

‘And what if someone does something good?’

‘Ah well,’ laughs the Australian, moving off, ‘God, of course, never leaves His glasses at home!’

Words to ponder upon

12 01 2010

I have learned, as a rule of thumb, never to ask whether you can do something. Say, instead, that you are doing it. Then fasten your seat belt. The most remarkable things follow.
- Julia Cameron

Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land on the stars.
- Les Brown

To achieve great things, two things are needed; a plan and not quite enough time.
- Leonard Bernstein, composer
