Yen-j & Xiao Hong Ren

9 12 2011

Currently procrastinating from fixing my stuffs for tomorrow morning, led me to this variety show:

Two of my fave artists in one show! I have only mentioned Xiao Hong Ren here once, but I have listened to his albums and they are good! I’m loving his voice, too. They are both so talented! … and a bit awkward in this variety show ^^; LOL at Yen-J for using English lyrics in the first challenge.

Now, I need to see a similar variety show of Jay Chou and Wang Lee Hom in one show! =^^= There will be inevitable fandom hate, but I think the show would be awesome!!!

short MV reviews

15 09 2011

okay. just read previous again and it was a tad bit weird. =)) ohwell…

anyway~

This is another about video posts. specifically music videos (aka MV). :)

First up is Yen-J’s 【明星的愛】– literally translated as “Celebrity’s Love.”

The video has english subs~! I tried translating this song back then, but I wasn’t familiar with some of the words. o_o; and I got confused with translations of the words I got from the internet.

Based on the title, you’ll already know what to expect in the MV. It’s hard to keep a star’s life in private. Some are almost successful (ie leehom), but it doesn’t stop rumors from flying around. I think the song is Yen-J’s way of making things clear about his private life to everyone and not only to the Paparazzi. I like the lyrics of the song– so straightforward. :) I don’t think anyone would misunderstand it.

As for the video… It’s kinda okay.. It suited the medium-to-fast-tempo of the song. It also conveyed the lyrics. But, I’m not sure if I like the newspapers-bgd-with-YenJ. The first few appearances of it are okay.. but I kind got a bit tired of it towards the end. o_o; (I’ll rate this 3.5 stars haha.)

*This is just a teaser actually. And I just have found out now that he has released the full MV this morning. like 1am morning? <_<*

Wang LeeHom’s (王力宏): 【火力全開】 meaning “Open Fire.” (Actually that was Leehom’s translation).
Okay. I see leehom dancing. =)) Not saying he is bad.. I just find it amusing every time he dances, but in a good way. ^^ I think he is better than Kim Joejang Jaejoong (but Jaejoong has improved, no? Look at 2011 Daegu IAAF World Championships closing ceremony! o_o I mean JJ can dance.. but he mostly flails back then when he does sortof solos. XD)

When I saw the video I expected chinked-out music.. It kinda is? but.. more leaning to Kpop-ish ness =( The chorus did anyway. Must listen to the whole song I guess.

The video looks interesting actually. :D I have seen the 11 second teaser a few days ago (or was it last week?), and I thought it was an RPG or movie XD didn’t read the title at all. I only saw that officialwangleehom has updated in my youtube subscriptions and clicked right away lol. XD But yeh, The teaser looked promising ^^

Must edit this after I have watched the video(currently in the office)

Third MV!!!!!!! Shobe and I have been waiting for this MV since the news of them making an MV for this song!

JYJ’s “In Heaven”

I lovelovelovelove this song ever since I have heard it through fancams from their previous concerts! This was actually written and composed by Kim JoejangJaejoong. I think this is the members’ first composition of a ‘powerful’ song (I don’t know what you call them. other examples of what I meant are DBSK’s Tonight, Love in the Ice and Bolero.) That fact made me like this song even more :)

Afaik, this song is dedicated to JJ’s friend who had passed away early this year, Park YongHwa. =( That time, JYJ were in the US for their showcase. sad.

The MV is so freaking good! I knew the teaser kept me hanging, but I didn’t really expect it to be THAT good. ILAVET! I was a tad bit worried of Junsu’s acting XD like 10% worried. He does well on stages (concerts, musicals), but he isn’t relatively known to act well on dramas… Technically, this MV is a short drama. Junsu had fail-acting moments in his cameo in the Kdrama Scent of a Woman– but he’s forgiven because his fail-acting was funny+cute. =))

The MV started with Junsu having a presentation which looks like he has a high position in that office, and Song Ji-hyo his girlfriend who later got hit by a car. The first half was a bit confusing, but you’ll understand the whole MV towards the ending.

spoiler: Junsu was given a second chance to make up for her GF! At first I thought it was only a dream, but you have to consider the scenes where Junsu was staring longingly at their pictures. Then one morning, Ji Hyo was at the door, and Junsu just stared at her like wth? then the Junsu looking at calendar scene. They both die in the end. Typical kdrama… <_< but it wouldn't make sense if they both lived though.

I wonder who had thought of this concept for the video. I never would’ve thought it to be that. I like it a lot anyway. But I’m curious why they did the second chance thing. yeh…. (I hope eatyourkimchi will give a review about this song XD)

This MV is the best MV so far from DBSK/JYJ! XD Doushite was similar, but compared to this, Doushite’s milder. haha. Both are still good though. Big improvement from the Ayy Girl MV of JYJ, definitely!:) 5 out of 5stars! XD

another music video

2 07 2011

this blog is slowly becoming a music/video blog. ohwell…

saw this song on Yen-j’s facebook, and I just thought why not try listening to it. :)

before reading/searching for the ‘with engsub’, I already liked the chorus AND the melody.

Because I was about to go to sleep, I’m too lazy to search for the lyrics then try to translate it. =p

anyway here is the song I’m talking about with eng sub:
Xiao Hong Ren [蕭閎仁] with Too Free [太自由] (tai zi you)

Not bad ey? I thought he’s good…

I shall go hunting anything about this dude to see if I do like his music lol (then I shall put tag here) :)

PS. thought for the evening: I’m currently thinking whether I should pursue this blogging…. hmm. let’s see.

PPS. looks like I’ll be the one who will be posting pictures of our previous Malaysia-Singapore trip in facebook. achi said she’s too busy to post them <_< (I don’t really post in facebook. maybe once in every few weeks? especially pictures. I used to upload regularly back in multiply days. haha but now, i don’t because whenever we have an outing (like block) others would also bring their own cameras. the end result would be a lot of similar pictures by diff uploaders. you know.. those my camera first on that group pic, another by someone from the group and so on. )…anyway. I may post some pictures here. expect mostly architecture in that future update? =))

(edited july 2, 2011. 14:11)
okay. I have listened to a few of his songs. I like him :) He does have a great voice, and I think he writes/composes most of his songs, if not all? but yeh… He did win the Best New artist back in 2008 (20th Golden Melody Awards).

so yeh… gonna look forward to him in future? :) gonna let him grow on me first haha ^^;

沒有你怎麼辦

30 06 2011

I haven’t been uploading much lately because I told myself to look/think of other interesting topics to share or whatever… but I just love this certain music video! It had brought tears to my eyes. T_T

Yes, this is another Yen-J

The title of the song is 沒有你怎麼辦. I translated it as How to do without
you
. or What am I to do without you.
沒有你 (méiyǒu nǐ) literally means without you
怎麼辦 (zěnme bàn) how to do; what to do

of Yen-J and videos

27 05 2011

I was kinda bored this morning, so I thought of checking my youtube account for recent uploads from my ‘subscriptions’. I hoped that simon’s cat or mugumogu has a new video but saw binmusictaipei instead! :D

title: [又不是這樣就不孤獨] It doesn’t mean I won’t ever be lonely
You Bu Shi Zhe Yang Jiu Bu Gu Du

for the translation of the song, see source/credits below :)

It’s kinda sad that his album was leaked. =( I saw download links for this album yesterday. The release date of is today actually. Shobe said it only means that he’s famous enough for his album to be leaked. lol =)) (Ikaw na.)

I actually do like this song and music video. The composition of the song is definitely interesting. very different imo. I also like the lyrics of the song. Part of the lyrics: 我許下的天堂 你不要的天堂 (The heaven I wished for, was the heaven you never wanted). lol. It’s inevitable that the couple will break up then. They had different dreams. They weren’t on the same page. Other lines that spoke of the inevitable break up:

我在沉默 你在沉重
I’m silent, you’re heavy-hearted
我在失落 你在失重
I’m dejected, you’re without burdens
我們不再習慣遷就
We no longer stay together out of habit
現在喜歡追究
We now like to nitpick and start fights

As for the music video, I/we tried to decipher various symbolism in it. (haha) Like, why they have close ups on the flower; why there is a flower arrangement on the piano; why there are flowers scattered on the floor; why did they video Yen-J front view, and why quarter view while playing the piano; why there are 2 escalators in the scene, 1 going up and the other stopped or going down; why there are suddenly people; why are the people wearing black; why there are multiple Yen-J; why the extras turned back (3:22) or turning back, etc.

Curious, don’t you think?

I learned from college that in any form of art, there is a concept, in every concept, there is an explanation to it. Just like in architecture. Before the building is designed, there is a reason why the design is like that and there must be explanation why you have put something there. Same goes with graphic designs, novels, paintings, videos, etc.

I learned in high school that a video can show lots of ‘symbols’ in it. Thanks to movie/reaction essays from them teachers. (haha) My favorite symbolism is from “Dekada Sitenta” “Anak” (I think that was the movie). The ‘favorite symbol’ is the scene where Vilma Santos Maricel Soriano was stirring her cup of coffee. (haha) We were baffled because a mere scene of stirring a cup of coffee may mean something. LOL She said that the scene means that her life is in disarray. (that symbol became one of my memorable examples of videos and symbolism. haha A scene so simple can mean something deep.)

Anyway.

Shobe and I have concluded that the 2 escalators probably meant the boy and the girl in this song. One- the girl had moved on that’s why it’s going up, the other where Yen-J was sitting on it (in 1:20) was the guy who had not let go yet/who’s ‘time’ had stopped. That’s why, there are people suddenly in the video. As for the others, I dunno. But, I’m most curious of the overlapping Yen-J’s at the start of the video and the double Yen-J escalator scene (2:38).

Before shobe had read the translation, she thought the flower was meant for the dead girlfriend. uhm… the girlfriend doesn’t sound dead based on the lyrics, tone of the music, and the facial expressions/body language. He does look melancholic though. But, comparing his facial expressions and body language of this video to [好的事情] Good Things, it’s different.

Good things was sad, huh… =( especially the scene where Yen-J was staring at an wedding picture/painting of the owner of the ramen shop (TT_TT) at 3:18.

Lastly…..

Can’t wait to listen to his second album!!! I hope I could attend one of his concerts in the future~~ ;) He’s one talented kid! (lol. kid. what is his real year of birth? There are some that said it’s 1987, others 1988 or 1989.) Haven’t listened to his 2d album yet, but I’m already looking forward for his third!!! (hehe) ^^;;
